Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-Centre/Clinton) issued the following statement today regarding successful House passage of her legislation which would give county corrections officers the right to carry their legally owned personal firearms to work and store them securely in their vehicles (House Bill 1781
“Off duty corrections officers—at every level of government—have long been the target of criminal violence by former inmates, gang members or other assailants. Tragically, these threats can also endanger the lives of their families and loved ones.
“Act 123 of 2018
has already been a huge success in protecting state corrections officers with the right to carry. My first bill to be adopted by the Pennsylvania House, would for the first time, extend the same level of right-to-carry protection to our highly dedicated county corrections officers.”
Approved by the PA House on Tuesday with a solid vote of 156-40, House Bill 1781 now advances to the Senate for consideration.
